Clematis ‘Nubia’ is a beautifully compact clematis from the Boulevard series, bred for smaller gardens and container growing without compromising on flower power. It produces large, velvety red blooms up to 15cm across, often flowering generously from top to bottom of the plant, creating a rich, continuous display from late spring through to autumn.
The colour holds well in full sun, with the deep red tones and contrasting dark stamens giving a luxurious, almost satin-like finish. Despite its dramatic appearance, it remains a manageable climber, reaching around 1.2–1.5m, making it ideal for patios, obelisks and smaller garden spaces.
Very hardy and reliable, it thrives in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in a sunny or lightly shaded position. It is easy to care for and benefits from a simple hard prune in early spring to encourage strong new growth and abundant flowering each year.
