Nepeta nervosa ‘Blue Moon’ is a wonderfully compact and free-flowering catmint, producing dense spikes of rich violet-blue flowers above highly aromatic grey-green foliage. Flowering generously from early summer into autumn, it provides months of colour while attracting bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators to the garden.
What makes ‘Blue Moon’ particularly special is its naturally neat, dwarf habit. Unlike many traditional catmints that can spread widely and flop open as the season progresses, this variety forms a tidy, upright mound that retains its shape beautifully throughout the growing season. Its compact size makes it ideal for smaller gardens, patio containers, gravel gardens, rockeries and the front of sunny borders.
The fragrant, textured foliage provides interest even when not in flower and releases a pleasant scent when brushed. As an RHS Plants for Pollinators variety, it is a valuable nectar source for bees and butterflies, bringing life and movement to the garden throughout the summer months.
Easy to grow and remarkably drought tolerant once established, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. A light trim after the first flush of flowers will often encourage a second display later in the season, extending its colour and garden performance even further.
