With the current concerns over the build-up of plastics in the environment, many gardeners are looking for replacements for plastic seed trays. This bamboo seed tray is the perfect alternative. It is made from sustainable bamboo fibre and rice starch, firmly held together with a resin made from naturally occurring organic compounds. This material is free from petroleum-based plastics and BPA (bisphenol A), a chemical that is used to make certain plastics and resins, and found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. The seed tray comes in a lovely sage green colour, is durable and will last for at least five years or more, and can be used indoors and outside. After its useful life is over, it is compostable and will biodegrade. Composting usually takes six to 12 months. Breaking it into small pieces before adding to your compost heap will help speed up this composting process.
