Over the years, I’ve tried many different bird foods. I’ve discovered that some are much better than others! Many are packed with cheap fillers like wheat that the RSPB say are only really suitable for pigeons. Also, there’s a bewildering range to choose from, I counted up to 22 different feeds recently ranging from winter warmers to special feeds for specific birds. On reflection, I thought this is daft. I wanted one food to attract the widest range of birds all year round. I also wanted it to be really good for them, providing maximum energy for minimum effort (this is crucial in the winter when birds, like blue tits can spend up to 85% of their daytime feeding just to survive). I talked to the leading experts in Europe and they helped me develop my own, very special bird food.
Every single ingredient has been selected with care to help attract and nourish the widest range of birds. It’s not padded out with cheap fillers like wheat and barley which the RSPB say is only really suitable for pigeons. It’s extra high in essential energy. A regular wild bird seed has up to 10% oil rich ( energy rich) seeds. High energy feeds tend to a minimum of 20% oil rich seeds. Mine has 34% plus 5% energy packed suet pellets. There are no husks. There are no messy bits to clear up around the bird table and, just as important, the birds don’t have to waste time and energy getting the husks off. If a few seeds do land on the ground, birds will still happily eat them. But if they don’t, the hedgehogs will and it’ll do them a power of good too.
High energy sunflower hearts, protein rich oats, oil rich red dari, mineral rich red millet, oil rich kibbled peanuts, oil rich canary seed, carbohydrate rich white dari, energy rich suet pellets, protein rich hempseed, oil rich nyger seed, vitamin rich Japanese millet and calcium rich oyster grit.
