Very hard and compacted soil can be difficult to dig and turn over. The joy of this super-tough, RHS-endorsed Large Groundbreaker Spade is its pointed, sharpened blade, which slices easily through the most challenging ground. If it meets a stone or root as it cuts through the soil, it simply passes the obstruction to the side, taking the hard work out of digging in hard or stony soils.
The large, mirror-polished stainless steel blade provides efficient digging, and clean, easy movement through the soil, and it’s rust resistant. Wide comfort treads at the top of the blade prevent any discomfort for feet, allowing you to dig deep in even the most challenging soil. The hardwood shaft and handle are made from FSC-certified ash wood, renowned as the best wood for garden tools. The shaft is longer than most spades to reduce stooping and so save your back from aches and pains and the comfortable Y-grip handle is double riveted at the base for strength. An extra-long, double-riveted strapped socket provides strength and an element of flex at this key joint. The Digging Spade has been tested to a breaking strain of 100kg –82% stronger than the British Standard.
