Radish French Breakfast 3 has been grown for ages, but it is still a firm favourite with gardeners and cooks. This heritage variety was introduced in France back in 1885, and was originally eaten with bread and butter as an early morning snack by market porters in Paris – hence its name. The colourful 5cm (2in) long, torpedo-shaped radishes are red with white tips and have a sweet, mild flavour. You can sow and harvest for many months, and you don’t have to wait around to harvest them. They’re super-fast growing, and are usually ready to pick just four to six weeks after sowing. Sow from March to September to harvest from May to October.
