Campanulas, commonly called bellflowers, are reliable hardy, herbaceous perennials that look right at home in mixed beds and borders and are very popular, classic choices for cottage gardens or cottage-garden style areas.
Campanula lactiflora Loddon Anna, a variety of milky bellflower, has tall, branching stems that bear clusters of soft lilac, open, bell-shaped flowers from July to September among toothed, mid-green leaves. Grow it at the back of beds and borders, as a statement plant or focal point, or among other perennials and summer cottage garden favourites like roses. Great for sunny or slightly shaded positions, the flower colour is retained best in partial shade.
