These salvias, commonly called perennial sage or Balkan clary, are tough hardy herbaceous perennials that produce upright spikes of colourful flowers from early summer through to early autumn. Their compact mounds of aromatic foliage make them perfect for sunny beds and borders – and they look great in containers.
Salvia Blue Marvel has the largest flowers of any perennial sage and a very long flowering period, re-flowering from early summer to well into autumn. The deep blue flowers have a little white on the lower lip. Its short, compact habit looks lovely edging paths and filling containers, including window boxes.
Salvia Rose Marvel produces upright spikes of deep rose-pink flowers from early summer through to early autumn, set off by mounds of grey-green foliage. The flowers are also loved by butterflies, bees and other pollinating insects.
