This striking Ajuga has the darkest foliage of its varieties and like its name has black scalloped leaves, producing fragrant violet-blue flowers from late spring through to summer. Ajuga Black Scallop is a low-growing perennial ground cover. The leaves are glossy, oval-shaped, and deep burgundy to almost black in colour, creating a striking contrast in garden beds or containers. Its late spring flowers are loved by bees, butterflies and other pollinators and add a splash of colour to your space.
Known for its ability to form dense mats, this Ajuga makes an effective ground cover for shady or partially shaded areas where other plants or grasses may not thrive. It is relatively low-maintenance and adapts well to various soil conditions, making it perfect for novice and experienced gardeners alike.
