- Available from March to October
Slugs are one of the most problematic and destructive garden pests, which attack and eat a wide range of plants, and nearly all young plants and seedlings.
Using Slug Control Nematodes, an organic biological control based on the microscopic nematodes Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita, is a quick, easy and effective way of controlling them. It can be used around all plants, including edible crops.
When applied to the soil or compost, these naturally-occurring parasitic nematodes search out slugs and stop them feeding. Once the slug is dead, they leave the body to search out further slugs and repeat the process.
Nematodes give long-term protection against soil-dwelling slugs plus small snails.
They are effective in a soil temperature range between 5-30C (41-86F).
Slug Control Nematodes are available from March to October. Once the product is available, it will be despatched on Tuesdays, for delivery on Wednesday with Royal Mail.
Slug Control Nematodes should be applied as soon as you receive them. If you can’t apply them straight away, you can keep them in a fridge for up to 10 days.
These nematodes are specific to slugs, they have no effect on other garden wildlife, are safe to use around people, and are safe for the environment.
There are two sizes: to treat up to 40sq m (48sq yd) and up to 100sq m (120sq yd); please select which size you need. They come complete with full instructions.
