- Organic biological control for soil-dwelling chafer grubs
- Very effective chafer grub control in lawns
- Uses the parasitic nematode Heterorhabditus species
- No effect on other garden wildlife, pets or children
- Available from July to September
Chafer grubs are large, white grubs that are the soil-dwelling larvae of chafer beetles. They feed on grass roots, killing the grass, and can cause severe damage to lawns and other grassed areas. Further secondary damage can be caused by birds pulling up the lawn to get at the grubs.
Using Chafer Grub Control Nematodes, an organic biological control based on the microscopic nematodes Heterorhabditus species, is a quick, easy and effective way of controlling them. There are no chemical controls for chafer grubs.
When applied to the lawn, these naturally-occurring parasitic nematodes search out chafer grubs and stop them feeding. Once the chafer grub is dead, they search out further grubs and repeat the process. Nematodes give long-term protection against chafer grubs.
Apply between July and September, or when the pest is present, and the soil temperature is above 12C (54F).
Chafer Grub Control Nematodes are available from July to September. Once the product is available, it will be despatched on Tuesdays, for delivery on Wednesday with Royal Mail.
Chafer Grub Control Nematodes should be applied as soon as you receive them. If you can’t apply them straight away, you can keep them in a fridge for up to 10 days.
These nematodes are specific to chafer grubs, they have no effect on other garden wildlife, are safe to use around people, and are safe for the environment.
