Rhubarb chard is an excellent addition to the veg garden, but it’s also perfect for growing in containers. It is very attractive and ornamental, thanks to its colourful stems and leaves, so it looks great on the patio or even grown among flowering plants in beds and borders.
The taste is rich and earthy – like a cross between beetroot and spinach.
It is very easy to grow and very versatile in the kitchen. You can grow it to maturity to harvest the full size stems and leaves, or grow it as a quicker cut-and-come again crop, removing a few smaller leaves as you need them. You can eat the stems, leaves and flowering stems, either steamed, used in stir-fries or eaten raw in salads.
Your seed packet contains approx. 75 seeds, enough for you to grow it in both ways – to maturity and as a cut-and-come-again crop.
