Begonia Sweet Spice English Rose is one of my must grow plants. Bred in Cambridgeshire by our gardening friends, the Kerley family, it delights you with a wonderful display whatever the weather. English Rose is, I think, the very best of the colours in the Sweet Spice begonia series. I’ve been growing it for three years now and everybody simply loves it. Wonderfully free flowering and very easy, I love the romantic rose fragrant flowers and I love the way the plant grows, filling the pot or basket with a rounded dome as it gently cascades over the sides. And it gets better and better during the summer. You can enjoy the flowers in more ways too, the pretty pink petals are edible and look great on salads! Each plant produces a tuber that can be saved at the end of the summer, overwintered and grown on the following year. The compact, gently cascading habit, growing 40cm (15in) high, looks wonderful grown on its own in patio pots and baskets, or combined with other plants.
