The Garden Media Guild Awards celebrate the very best communicators and media professionals across the gardening and horticultural industries. And this year the new Richard Jackson’s Garden website beat other top websites to scoop the Website of the Year award. The award was presented to Richard at an awards ceremony in London’s Savoy with guests including the who’s who in garden media, with Alan Titchmarsh, Carol Klein, Peter Seabrook, Toby Buckland and Rachel de Thame all in attendance.
Speaking about the award, Richard said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won this award. When we started our website, we wanted it to be slightly different. We wanted to encourage new writers like Vicki Cooke and to try new ideas – like our quick gardening tips videos. We know from feedback and our monthly stats that our visitors like what we’re doing and we’re incredibly proud that the gardening industry likes it too.”
In another bonus for the team, website contributor Vicki Cooke won the Alan Titchmarsh Award for New Talent. Vicki is the Kitchen Garden Keeper at Hampton Court Palace and writes about growing vegetables, weaving in tales of Royalty, giving an insight into the gardening of yesteryear. She also gives advice on heritage varieties to try at home, as well as practical tips based on her own experience.
Vicki said: “This was totally unexpected, but a real honour. I’ve really enjoyed writing about the Hampton Court Palace kitchen garden and I’m thrilled that people like reading about it.”
Richard Jackson’s Garden was re-launched in Easter 2015 with a new design and new features, including 30-second monthly video tips from Richard, blog posts and weekly articles from writers such as Andy McIndoe, Michael Perry, Matt Appleby, James Wong, Graham Rice and Michael Marriott.
