Garden Re-Leaf Day logoAcross the UK garden centres and nurseries are staging a variety of events to raise money for the Greenfingers Charity as part of 2016 Garden Re-Leaf day. Look out for special offers, money-saving ideas, inspirational displays and exciting fundraising events starting on Friday 18 March and over the course of the following weekend. Many garden centres are holding a plant-a-thon where customers and staff take it in turns to continuously plant containers throughout the day to raise money. Others are hosting tool exchanges, book sales and raffles or simply donating a small amount of money when you buy a cup of tea. Visit the Garden Re-Leaf Day website to find events near you.

Supporting Greenfingers

Greenfingers is a national charity dedicated to supporting the children and their families who use hospices around the UK. It creates and builds inspiring hospice gardens offering a safe and inspiring space for the children and their families to play and have fun or for much needed therapeutic rest and relaxation.

To date Greenfingers has created 49 stimulating gardens and outdoor spaces in hospices around the country and there is currently a waiting list of hospices still needing help.

Since Garden Re-Leaf Day began Greenfingers has raised a fantastic £270,000! And it is thanks to this support, that Greenfingers has brought the precious gift of a garden to over 3000 children and families who spend time in hospices.

Get involved

Garden Re-Leaf day
Dennis Espley, Richard Jackson and Boyd Douglas-Davies will all be supporting Garden Re-Leaf Day.

Join in some of the national and local events at garden centres across the country and help raise money for this deserving cause.

Greenfingers supporters are staging events and promotions around the country to encourage British gardeners to visit garden centres, buy plants and generally get gardening. There’s a lot going on at a garden centre near you. At Squire’s Garden Centres, there is a plant-a-thon, starting in Badshot Lea, near Farnham in Surrey  and moving onto the Twickenham branch.

At Studley Garden Centre in Warwickshire, CEO of the Hillview Garden Centres, Boyd Douglas-Davies will be running a similar 24-hour mammoth planting session.

If you are creative then why not paint a picture and enter the Flower Power Art Challenge, there are two categories, one for amateurs and one for professional artists and it’s all in aid of Greenfingers. You could win up to £1000 and have your painting exhibited at London’s Embassy Tea Gallery.

Or if you are house bound or unable to get out, then tune in to the QVC Shopping Channel between 9am and 11am, on March 19 and March 20. The QVC Gardening Suppliers are donating at least £1 per pack sold on the special QVC Garden Re-leaf shows.

See www.gardenreleaf.co.uk for a list of events in your local area.

Take a moment to watch the Greenfingers A Million Moments Film, which explains more about the difference that your support is making.
