Why is it different from other lawn fertilisers?

Richard Jackson’s Lawn Magic isn’t like the ordinary lawn feeds you can buy at the garden centres and DIY stores. The major difference is the nitrogen, I’ve used a special form that can be efficiently absorbed and used by the roots immediately. Crucially, it also contains calcium which helps build strong cell structure to help build resistance to disease and make your grass stronger. I’ve also added seaweed extract to encourage bio-stimulant growth. Lawn Magic root comparison The picture shows a comparison between an ordinary lawn food and my Lawn Magic. Both green the grass, but my Lawn Magic also builds the root system which is why it produces a tougher, more resilient turf. That’s why many of the top premier football and rugby grounds use it!

How do I use it?

Add 100ml to a watering can full of water, stir and then water evenly onto 10 sq metres of grass. For big areas, it’s easier and quicker to use a hose end sprayer (you can buy a special kit from QVC which consists of a 1 litre bottle of RJ Lawn Magic plus a particularly good and effective hose end sprayer which applies the feed at precisely the right dilution). For newly turfed lawns, apply at half the normal rate immediately after laying the turf, then use the normal rate after four weeks. For recently seeded lawns, apply at half the rate as soon as the grass seed germinates, then use the full rate after four weeks.

How often should I use it?

Ideally, every four to five weeks from March to October. Regular use has a cumulative effect, this is how the professionals treat their grass and in my experience, the lawn gets (and looks) better and better.

Does it treat moss and weeds?

It doesn’t contain any moss or weedkillers but it does include iron (a key ingredient of a traditional mosskiller called lawn sand) and in my experience, I’ve found it turns the moss brown, weakens it and then I rake it out. Regular use of Richard Jackson’s Lawn Magic builds a strong healthy sward which gradually crowds out moss and weeds. If you’ve a major problem with weeds, then use Lawn Magic to build up the lawn, then apply a specific lawn weed killer when the weeds are actively growing.

Does it treat lawn diseases?

Regular use builds up resistance to diseases such as Fusarium patch, Dollar spot and Red thread.

Does it affect pets or wildlife?

It’s pet and wildlife friendly but I would recommend keeping pets off the lawn for about one hour if possible to give it time to soak into the grass.

When’s the best time of day to apply it?

Early evening or first thing in the morning.

How big a lawn will it treat?

The 5 litre bottle treats 500sq metres of lawn … the average size lawn (front and back) is about 100sq metres … so this bottle will treat the front and back lawn up to 5 times. The 1 litre bottle treats up to 100sq metres.
