Five rambling roses

Jean Vernon chooses her five favourite rambling roses from the Festival of Roses at this year’s Hampton Court Flower Show.

The Festival of Roses marquee at this year’s Hampton Court Flower Show was sheer delight. Eight fabulous rose specialists created rose gardens and displays to show off their plants to the visitors and dozens of varieties were on sale.

The scent is the first thing that you focus on as you approach the marquee. While not all roses are scented, there were many that are, including an inspiring, creative display from The Real Flower Company, which specialises in growing scented roses for cut flowers.

But is was the climbers and ramblers that took my attention this year, with a rusted garden arch to clothe in something beautiful, I was captivated by the pretty clusters of rambling rose flowers and the variety available. Here are five that caught my eye.
