Five nest boxes

With nesting season upon us, here are five fab bird boxes to provide practical affordable housing for your feathered friends.

It’s National Nest Box Week (February 14 – 21) and a great time to add a birdhouse or two to your garden. Site your nest box correctly and you may be blessed with a family of chicks this spring. The birds need to become accustomed to the sight, smell and presence of the new box, so if they don’t choose it this season for nesting, it will be ready and waiting for next year.

Look for nest boxes that are weatherproof and that can be opened for cleaning. Maintenance and hygiene checks should be done well before the nesting season starts (between October and January is the best time to do this).

Here are five fab nest boxes to choose from, in no particular order.
